The Lord showed me so much for my future years ago, so I recently asked Why it was taking so long to come to pass!
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2:2
Let's break down the Lord’s answer:
1. Do What? Write
2. Write What? The Vision
3. Then What? Make it plain
4. How/Where? Upon Tables (In a tablet/document, etc.)
5. Why? That he may run that readeth it.
6. Who is he? Or Who are they?
Write: It’s important to write down everything you feel God has revealed to you about who you are and what you should be doing. I remember I wrote everything down back in 2004. The problem with that is I did not continue to make it plain. Once you write it the first time, you must revisit it and complete it by adding as time goes by in order to make it more and more plain. The scripture appears to speak on one particular revelation, but God has revealed to me that sometimes he will give you a big vision, something greater than you and greater than writing in one sitting, but it is still our responsibility to write it and make it plain.
The Vision: In order to write the vision, you must first know that the vision came from God and that it is a true vision, not just a wish or dream. The difference between a vision, a wish or a dream is the source. Is the source from you or something or someone Higher and Greater than you? Is it something that just won’t leave you alone or something that you just decided you would like to do because it would be nice? Everyone may not be spiritually connected to God on a higher level, but think on it this way if you can’t seem to shake it and it follows you year after year and you feel like you shouldn’t die without doing it, chances are it’s a God-Given vision and you should take the time to Write it and Make it Plain.
Make it Plain: What does it truly mean to make it plain? Making it plain may come with a little time investment. It entails research and learning. It entails questioning and making sure you clarify every small crevice of the idea in a manner that anyone could understand. Making it plain is not just about writing it legibly or making sure that you type it simply without using huge words, it is more about breaking everything down to a point where no more questions can be asked. Ask questions, find answers, and write everything you think you need to write that pertains to making the vision or idea as plain as possible to those who may read it, so they understand clearly what you mean and know exactly what needs to be done to get it done. Making it plain entails taking everything a step further than your mind and making it concrete on paper before implementing it.
Upon Tables: Hmmm. Well, some translations of this scripture change the word tables to “Tablets” which is a word we are familiar with. However, if you just write it in a tablet or notebook it will only be for you. I believe write it on tables means a little more than just put it in a notebook in this day and time. I believe it means to write it somewhere where the people who need to see it will be able to see it. I believe it means put it in a format or on a medium that can be carried from place to place and read and understood by those who are important and those who need to read it in order to help get it done. In this sense, writing it on tables means that you put every facet of the vision in a document such as a business plan or proposal that is detailed and thorough and in a file on a computer or flash drive and can be printed or sent to whomever it needs to be in front of (on a table) that will make it happen. Basically, it means putting it somewhere that it needs to be to get where it needs to go.
That he may run that readeth it: Although the singular pronoun “he” is used here, I would like to think that several He’s or individuals will be able to run once they read it. For this purpose, I would like to utilize the pronoun “they” instead of “he” to describe the one(s) that will read “it” because we know in this day and age you will have to shop around in order to get your vision in front of the proper readers.
Who will be reading your vision? It is important in this stage that you identify who will need to read it and who will need to run, that is, move the vision forward. Readers and runners may be identified as potential staff members, potential stake holders, potential donors, or any other potential that may have the ability to move the vision forward monetarily or physically (by way of labor/man hours). God is able to do exceeding abundantly above anything we can ever ASK or THINK, but if we never ASK or THINK how will we know what exceeding abundantly above is...This stage is about asking. It is also about thinking of who to ask and where to ask in order to find the right readers and runners for your vision.
God is all wise and all knowing. Therefore, I rely upon him for vision. My personal vision would have probably been fulfilled years ago if I took the time to stop and listen rather than trying to run with it on my own. God did not tell me to run with it, he told me to write it. Yes, I wrote it, a few times, but guess what? I did not make it all the way Plain, and I did not put it upon tables, and I did not ASK or THINK about my readers and runners the way I should have. I did it all out of order and I failed. So now, I am doing what I should have done years ago. I am writing it! I am making it plain! I am putting it upon tables! I am identifying my readers and my runners! ...and I am TRUSTING GOD to do the rest! I have 100% FAITH that He shall do exceeding abundantly above anything I can ever ASK or THINK because I am FINALLY ASKING AND THINKING!!!
So just DO IT! ...Write the vision and make it plain that he may run that readeth it, and GOD will bring it to pass!
This is awesome!!I would like to start off by saying ,"Thank you"for making your vision plain and visible. You have no idea how much this has blessed me...It's more like a blue print to success.Myself, wanting to become a published writer, this has put my vision into perspective that I can comprehend.. You touched basis,on a quite a few points that made my reflect on the things I want to accomplish in my own life. You stated ,We must not just write down our vision, but revisit it as well.Do research. Learn..But come back to the tablet when we have the proper lesson...This is so important.. Your vision ..Many alike ,can benefit from this.. I will be the first to admit that ...I need to…
